A new conversation

The World Is Ready for a New Conversation

◆

Across the world, individuals and organizations are experiencing rising levels of stress, burnout, and disconnection. Many systems designed to support people are struggling to keep pace with the complexity of human experience. As a result, many individuals and leaders find themselves operating in survival mode—reacting to crises rather than responding with awareness and intention. Survival mode protects us during moments of danger, but it was never meant to be the place where we live our lives or lead our organizations. Alchemize HOPE exists to help individuals and systems move beyond survival and cultivate environments where people can truly thrive.

Looking beneath the surface

Mindset Is Often Just the Icing

◆

Many personal development models focus primarily on mindset. Mindset matters—but it is often only the visible layer of human experience. Two cakes can look identical on the outside yet contain completely different ingredients. Human behavior works the same way. What we see, hear, or interpret on the surface does not always reveal the deeper experiences shaping someone's reactions, beliefs, and responses. The Trauma-Aware Approach™ invites us to slow down, become curious, and explore the ingredients beneath the surface.

Beyond Mindset™ infographic — THE ICING: what we see, say, and hear (behaviors, communication, performance, leadership, relationships, choices, mindset, success, and the emotions we express) versus THE INGREDIENTS: what shapes us beneath the surface (life experiences, relationships and attachment, social conditions, protective factors, trauma and adversity, neurodiversity and biology, beliefs and values, culture and identity, opportunities and access, challenges and stressors, environment and community, hope and resilience)

Language That Opens Doors

◆

Words shape how people are seen — and how they see themselves. Alchemize HOPE uses welcoming language based on curiosity rather than judgment, in a brave space where people can be honest:

Ask “What happened?” and “What's happening?” — not “What's wrong?”
“Unhoused,” not “homeless,” when describing people
“Activation,” not “trigger”
Responding rather than reacting
Connection before correction
Multiple pathways. Meaningful choice.
Person-driven, always
A brave space — honest, respectful, human

The foundation beneath the Pathway

Conditions That Shape Human Potential™

◆

Before we ask what a person should change, we become curious about the conditions surrounding them. The Conditions That Shape Human Potential™ are the everyday circumstances — resources, environments, relationships, opportunities, and supports — that shape what feels possible in a person's life. Rather than treating someone's actions as an isolated problem, we ask “What happened?” and “What's happening?” — and we look at the whole picture with curiosity.

Opportunity & Financial Stability

Income, employment, economic opportunities, and access — the resources that make choice possible.

Home, Safety & Environment

Housing, transportation, green space, and community safety — the places where life happens.

Learning & Growth

Education, opportunity, and learning environments that open — or close — what comes next.

Daily Needs & Nourishment

Food access, daily necessities, rest, and care — the basics every other goal stands on.

Relationships & Belonging

Support, social connections, inclusion, and exclusion — the people and communities around us.

Health, Healing & Support

Healthcare, autonomy, services, and protective supports that help people recover and thrive.

The social determinants of health (SDOH) live inside this wider framework — an important part of the picture, not the whole of it. The Conditions also reach further: lived experiences and trauma, protective experiences, systemic inequalities, culture and identity, history, biology, neurodiversity, meaning and purpose, agency, opportunity, and community resources.

About · The Pathway

The Pathway to HOPE™

A trauma-aware ecosystem designed to help individuals, organizations, and communities move from surviving to thriving.

What is the Pathway to HOPE?

◆

The Pathway to HOPE™ is a non-linear ecosystem that supports learning, connection, growth, and healing. This model recognizes that transformation does not happen in a straight line. People may enter through community, training, coaching, or wellness support and move between these areas in ways that reflect their own journey.

Ecosystem Principles

People may enter anywhere
Movement is non-linear
Learning without healing is incomplete
Growth without connection is unsustainable
Capacity is built over time, not extracted
Belonging is as important as skill

Our signature

The Signature Trauma-Aware Approach™

◆

The Pathway to HOPE™ is Alchemize HOPE's signature Trauma-Aware Approach™ in action. Trauma-informed care helps us understand what trauma is and why it matters; the Trauma-Aware Approach™ focuses on how we live and practice those principles in everyday interactions, relationships, and systems — with embodiment, awareness, and action.

Curiosity before judgment — “What happened?” and “What's happening?”
Connection before correction
Responding rather than reacting
Brave spaces — honest, respectful, human
Person-driven, always
Multiple pathways. Meaningful choice.

Beyond Trauma-Informed Care

◆

Trauma-informed care helps us understand what trauma is and why it matters. Alchemize HOPE's signature Trauma-Aware Approach™ — the Pathway to HOPE™ — focuses on how we live and practice those principles in everyday interactions, relationships, and systems, with embodiment, awareness, and action. At Alchemize HOPE, we believe that suicide and substance use are languages of pain, survival skills, and trauma reactions. Our mission is to bring awareness, change conversations, and promote responses of HOPE rather than fear.

About · The Foundation

Conditions That Shape Human Potential™

Before we ask what a person should change, we become curious about the conditions surrounding them.

The foundation

Conditions That Shape Human Potential™ — In Depth

◆

Every pathway in this ecosystem stands on the same foundation: the conditions of a person's life. The Conditions That Shape Human Potential™ name the circumstances that support — or limit — what a person, family, organization, or community can do next. They surface in our lessons, across all 10 dimensions of wellness, and in our organizational work.

Opportunity & Financial Stability

Examples to explore: income, employment, economic opportunities, and access to the resources that make choice possible.

Home, Safety & Environment

Examples to explore: housing, transportation, green space, and community safety.

Learning & Growth

Examples to explore: education, opportunity, and the learning environments people grow up and work in.

Daily Needs & Nourishment

Examples to explore: food access, daily necessities, rest, and care.

Relationships & Belonging

Examples to explore: support, social connections, exclusion, and inclusion.

Health, Healing & Support

Examples to explore: healthcare, autonomy, services, and protective supports.

The social determinants of health (SDOH) belong within this wider framework — they are not a synonym for all of it. Beyond SDOH, the Conditions also ask us to consider lived experiences and trauma, protective experiences, systemic inequalities, culture and identity, history, biology, neurodiversity, meaning and purpose, agency, opportunity, and community resources.

This is why our first move is curiosity. Instead of treating a person's actions as an isolated problem, we ask: What happened? What's happening? What might be contributing — and what conditions may need to change? The answers shape which pathway a person enters, and what support actually helps. See the Conditions at work in the and in how organizations redesign their systems in .

The AWARE Departments

◆

The work of Alchemize HOPE reaches the world through five interconnected departments. AWARE is not the name of the organization — it names the five departments through which learning becomes action: Advocacy · Wellness · Ambassadors · Redesigning Systems · Education. They are not steps; they reinforce one another across the ecosystem.

AWARE Echo Systems™ diagram — where awareness echoes into action: five departments (Advocacy, Wellness, Ambassadors, Redesigning Systems, Education) around one mission, creating ripple effects from stronger individuals to a more hopeful world

Advocacy

Elevating voices, strengthening participation, increasing access, addressing barriers, and helping individuals and communities influence the systems that affect their lives.

Wellness

Expanding access to whole-person and whole-community wellness opportunities that honor meaningful choice and recognize the many conditions influencing health and human potential.

The Wellness department carries Alchemized Wellness™ — our whole-person, whole-community framework for well-being — into every corner of the ecosystem.

Ambassadors

Developing people who carry HOPE into their families, workplaces, communities, organizations, and networks — turning ideas into relationships, relationships into communities, and communities into movements.

Redesigning Systems

Working with organizations, leaders, communities, and partners to examine structures, policies, practices, and environments that may unintentionally reproduce the very challenges they are attempting to solve.

Education

Training, professional development, curriculum, coaching, technical assistance, and learning opportunities that turn awareness into sustainable practice.

Angel Prater, founder of Alchemize HOPE Institute

About Angel Prater

◆

Angel Prater is the founder of Alchemize HOPE and a national trainer, consultant, and systems change advocate. Across a career of roughly 30 years, she has worked in behavioral health, social services, peer support, crisis response, nonprofit leadership, and workforce development — always with the same conviction: people are often expected to change while the conditions surrounding them remain the same. Angel founded Alchemize HOPE to help change that conversation.

She founded Alchemize HOPE (formerly Community Connections LLC) and co-created the David Romprey Oregon Warmline, recognized by SAMHSA as a best practice, which grew to roughly 65,000 calls a year by 2016 and secured state legislative funding. As Executive Director of FolkTime, she built its training center — raising $78K in its first nine months and $150K+ in year two — and established Oregon's first IPS HUB.

For more than 25 years, Angel has also trained within criminal justice and corrections, including facilitating the Oregon State Prison Lakota Club MAPs program and contributing to Oregon's Criminal Justice Reinvestment Initiative, which informed HB 3194. Her bridge-building perspective is lived as well as professional — it is what makes rooms trust her.

The Ambassador Program offers pathways to grow with the Alchemize HOPE ecosystem — as a coach, a train-the-trainer, a technical assistance provider, an affiliate marketer, or a TA training hub. Ambassadors are individuals, community leaders, professionals, entrepreneurs, advocates, coaches, trainers, and people with lived experience who carry HOPE into the places where they already have relationships, trust, and influence.

Ambassador HUBs create local and virtual communities where people can connect, learn, collaborate, share resources, expand wellness opportunities, and bring the Pathway to HOPE™ to life. One person can create a ripple. Connected people can create a movement.

HEAL · Wellness & Sustainability

HEAL — Wellness & Sustainability

HEAL is the Pathway to HOPE™ entry point for wellness and sustainability — built around Alchemized Wellness™ and the many ways people and communities restore, recover, and thrive.

Alchemized Wellness™

◆

Wellness is more than one part of a person. Alchemized Wellness™ is a whole-person and whole-community framework that recognizes thriving is influenced by far more than physical or mental health alone — our bodies, minds, relationships, environments, finances, opportunities, sense of purpose, connection, and belonging all play a part.

Whole Person, Whole Community

Rather than assuming one pathway, product, service, or intervention works for everyone, Alchemized Wellness™ honors meaningful choices — people discover what supports their own wellness.

Beyond Symptoms

We look beyond symptoms toward the broader conditions influencing human potential — and work to transform those conditions whenever possible, not just help people survive them.

The HEAL Entry Point

Alchemized Wellness™ lives in the HEAL entry point of the Pathway to HOPE™: emotional regulation, mindfulness, reflective practice, stress recovery, and leadership sustainability.

Discover the 10 Dimensions of Alchemized Wellness™

Wellness is not one-dimensional. Neither is healing.

Every aspect of our lives is interconnected. Our physical health influences our emotions. Our financial circumstances can affect our sense of safety. Our relationships shape how we experience connection and belonging. Our environments, cultures, opportunities, and lived experiences influence how we think, feel, respond, and navigate the world.

At Alchemize HOPE, we recognize that lasting wellness requires looking beyond symptoms, behaviors, and mindset to understand the deeper conditions shaping human potential.

Through Alchemized Wellness™, we explore 10 interconnected dimensions that influence our individual, relational, professional, organizational, and community well-being.

These dimensions are not separate boxes to check. They are connected parts of the human experience, continually influencing one another.

You don't have to have everything figured out to begin healing.

Healing begins with awareness, curiosity, connection, and discovering what may be possible.

The context around every dimension

The Conditions Around Our Wellness

◆

The 10 dimensions do not float free of real life. Each one is shaped by the Conditions That Shape Human Potential™ — the circumstances surrounding a person, including the social determinants of health (SDOH): housing, food access, work, transportation, safety, and access to care. The Conditions framework is wider than SDOH alone — it also holds lived experience, culture and identity, relationships and belonging, opportunity, and the supports around us.

So when a dimension feels out of reach, the most useful question is often not “What's wrong?” but “What happened — and what's happening?” Sometimes what needs attention is a practice; sometimes it is a condition.

How the 10 Dimensions Work Together

◆

Wellness Is Interconnected. Healing Can Be, Too.

Imagine someone experiencing exhaustion, difficulty concentrating, increased emotional activation, and tension in their relationships.

On the surface, these experiences might be interpreted as problems with mindset, motivation, attitude, or emotional regulation.

But what happens when we become curious about what lies beneath?

Perhaps this person is experiencing financial insecurity, working multiple jobs, navigating unsafe housing conditions, lacking restorative sleep, or carrying the effects of previous trauma.

What appears to be an individual challenge may actually involve several interconnected dimensions of wellness.

This is why we look beyond the surface.

Through Alchemized Wellness™, we recognize that lasting change may require attending not only to what a person thinks or feels but also to the circumstances and systems influencing their experiences.

We explore the Conditions That Shape Human Potential™, including the social determinants of health, to better understand what supports or limits opportunities for well-being.

Rather than asking only, "What's wrong?" we become curious about:

  • What happened, or what is happening?
  • What might be contributing to this experience?
  • Which areas of wellness are being affected?
  • What strengths, supports, and resources already exist?
  • What conditions may need to change?
  • What possibilities for healing, growth, and connection can we begin to explore?

Healing does not happen in isolation. It is influenced by the relationships, resources, opportunities, and environments that surround us.

Did you know a 20-second hug can transform lives?

◆

The 20-Second Hug Benefits

Emotional Bonding — releases oxytocin, fostering connection and trust.

Reduces Stress — lowers cortisol, promoting relaxation.

Improves Mood — natural release of oxytocin and serotonin, combating depression and anxiety.

Lowers Blood Pressure — stimulates touch receptors, decreasing heart rate.

Boosts Immune System — reduces stress, promoting overall well-being.

Increases Happiness — elevates serotonin levels, enhancing joy.

Strengthens Relationships — reinforces emotional and physical connections.

Hugging Across Cultures: A Global Perspective

◆

Every culture — and every person — relates to touch differently. The perspectives below are offered as general discussion prompts for curiosity and conversation, never as fixed rules about any culture or any person. What leads, always, is the individual in front of you: their preferences, their boundaries, and their consent.

Western Societies

Common as a greeting among friends, open expression.

Eastern Cultures

Reserved for close family, private approach.

Latin America

Integral part of daily interactions, signifies warmth.

Middle East

Less common in public, reflects norms around personal space.

Scandinavian

More reserved, used in intimate settings.

Adapting to Change: Hugging in the Era of Social Distancing

Even with physical separation, innovative solutions like virtual hugs and hug curtains keep the essence of hugging alive, maintaining bonds and highlighting the importance of touch.

A virtual hug is symbolic support — a way of saying “I'm here, and you matter” across any distance. It never substitutes for consent, and it never has to: connection leads, in whatever form a person welcomes it.

HUGS Heal

◆

HUGS Heal is the educational heart of the Free HUGS movement: learning about safe human connection — what a hug can mean, the cultural context it happens in, and why autonomy and consent always come first.

Safe Human Connection

How connection supports healing — and how to offer it in ways that feel safe, welcomed, and freely chosen.

Cultural Context

Touch means different things in different cultures, families, and lives. HUGS Heal teaches curiosity about context — never assumptions.

Autonomy & Consent

Every person decides for their own body. Asking, listening, and honoring every answer — including “no” and “not today” — is the practice.

HUGS Heal lives at an intersection: it gathers community in CONNECT, supports whole-person wellness in HEAL, and teaches through LEARN.

An Initiative of Alchemize HOPE · Purpose and Reentry

Beyond the Bars™

REENTRY • DIGNITY • HOPE

Your past is part of your story. It does not have to define your future.

A person is more than their past. A future of dignity, connection and purpose is possible.

Beyond the Bars emblem illustrating hope and an open path beyond incarceration

Beyond the Bars™

REENTRY • DIGNITY • HOPE

Beyond the Bars™ is an emerging Alchemize HOPE initiative exploring person-driven pathways for people navigating life after incarceration or criminal justice system involvement, along with families, communities and the people who support them. We envision connection, lived-experience mentorship, wellness, learning, purpose and opportunity — built with people whose lives are directly affected.

It grows out of Angel's own bridge-building work: for more than 25 years she has trained within criminal justice and corrections, including facilitating the Oregon State Prison Lakota Club MAPs program and contributing to Oregon's Criminal Justice Reinvestment Initiative.

Coming Soon Beyond the Bars™ has no launch date yet — join the waitlist and we'll be in touch as it opens.

Status: Coming Soon. This page describes an emerging initiative — not currently available reentry services. Everything below is the vision taking shape: planned possibilities, not published service commitments.

What It Is · Why It Exists · Who It's For

◆

What This Initiative Is

A people-centered reentry and opportunity initiative that recognizes identity, humanity and potential beyond incarceration or justice-system involvement.

Who This Is For

People navigating incarceration-related transitions, formerly incarcerated people, families, community mentors, service providers, employers and reentry partners.

Purpose

To make visible pathways to belonging, wellness, learning, meaningful opportunity and community connection for people navigating reentry.

Mission

To develop lived-experience-informed community connections, storytelling, mentorship and education—then grow practical reentry pathways in partnership with people directly affected and local organizations.

Why This Exists

◆

Reentry involves more than an individual decision to change. Housing, transportation, employment, income, family relationships, access to care, community perceptions and system policies can shape what is possible. A Trauma-Aware Approach™ invites us to look beneath behavior, honor strengths and lived experience, and address the Conditions That Shape Human Potential™ alongside social determinants of health.

Beyond a Label

◆

A person is more than a record, a charge, or a label. Beyond the Bars™ holds stories of strengths, relationships, responsibilities and aspirations beyond justice involvement — the whole of a life, never reduced to one chapter of it.

Purpose and Reentry

◆

Reentry is practical as well as personal. This initiative explores community connections, navigation of barriers, work and economic opportunity, family reunification and wellness. It is a community being built toward those connections — not a placement service, a legal service, or a guarantee of employment.

Breaking the Chains — Stories Beyond Incarceration

◆

“Breaking the Chains” is a supporting story theme within Beyond the Bars™ — stories of breaking free from the weight of a label and reclaiming identity, dignity, and direction. It lives alongside this initiative as a theme for storytelling; it does not rename Beyond the Bars™, and it is not a separate program.

Future Learning and Mentorship

◆

Coming Soon

Future possibilities include peer mentoring, life-skills learning, and leadership development — explored only as scope and availability are approved. P2P (Prisoners to Purpose) is named here only as a possible future direction under Beyond the Bars™; it is not a current offering, and nothing about it is open yet.

Two Connected Branches: The Envisioned Model

◆

The Movement

Make dignity and HOPE visible through stories, awareness, listening, meaningful partnerships, advocacy and community connection.

A Voices of HOPE™ reentry story series may feature self-directed stories from people and loved ones affected by justice systems.

The Pathways

Explore future peer mentorship, practical reentry learning, self-reflection, wellness education, coaching, leadership, employment and entrepreneurship connections, and technical assistance for organizations. All are planned possibilities, not published service commitments.

How Beyond the Bars™ Connects — The Pathway to HOPE™

◆

Beyond the Bars™ touches all four pathways. Each connection below names the AWARE departments that carry it — explore all five departments on the The AWARE Departments page.

CONNECT — Communities

Belonging, lived-experience stories, community relationships, and future peer mentorship.

Carried by AWARE: Ambassadors · Advocacy · Wellness

LEARN — Trainings

Carried by AWARE: Education · Redesigning Systems

GROW — Coaching

HEAL — Wellness

Wellness and the Conditions Around It

Reentry is whole-person work. Beyond the Bars™ connects to the 10 Dimensions of Alchemized Wellness™ — dimensions like emotional, social, environmental, financial, and occupational wellness often carry the weight of reentry — and to the Conditions That Shape Human Potential™: housing, education, employment, transportation, and access to care shape what is possible. Wellness is never an individual responsibility alone; the conditions around a person matter.

A Sibling Initiative: Beyond the Uniform™

Beyond the Bars™ and Beyond the Uniform™ stand side by side as equal initiatives — and some lives touch both: a veteran may also carry justice-system experience. Neither identity implies the other, and each person is met as a whole person, never reduced to a single chapter of their story.

Ways to Participate — Choose Your Own Path

◆

There are many ways to take part, and each one stands on its own. Become an Ambassador without ever sharing your story; share a story without joining a community; support reentry without taking on anything more. Choose the path that fits — or simply register interest and decide later.

An Initiative of Alchemize HOPE · Veterans & Military Families

Beyond the Uniform™

SAME STRENGTH. NEW MISSION.

Identity beyond service — belonging and purpose, carried into what comes next.

Beyond the Uniform™ emblem — a service member's helmet beneath the flag, a lighthouse, and a winding golden path: Same Strength. New Mission.

Beyond the Uniform™

SAME STRENGTH. NEW MISSION.

Beyond the Uniform™ is an emerging Alchemize HOPE initiative for veterans, transitioning service members, reservists, National Guard members, and military families. Its themes are identity beyond service, belonging, and purpose.

It begins as a movement — making HOPE visible for the military community — with structured supports developed over time, built with the people it serves. The program model: a movement now; structured supports as developed.

Coming Soon Beyond the Uniform™ has no launch date yet — join the waitlist and we'll be in touch as it opens.

Status: Coming Soon. This page describes an emerging initiative — not currently available services. Everything below is the vision taking shape: planned possibilities, not published service commitments.

What It Is · Why It Exists · Who It's For

◆

What This Initiative Is

A veteran- and military-family-centered initiative that honors service while recognizing the whole person beyond a uniform, a role, or a chapter of life.

Who This Is For

Veterans, transitioning service members, National Guard and Reserve communities, military-connected families, loved ones, and those who wish to support them.

Purpose

To cultivate connection, belonging, wellness, and renewed purpose as veterans and military families navigate life during and beyond military service.

Mission

To grow a veteran-informed movement of connection and HOPE, and over time develop structured pathways for learning, peer support, mentorship, coaching, and leadership.

Why This Exists

◆

Leaving service — after a few years or a full career — is more than a change of role. Identity, belonging, and purpose are all renegotiated at once, for the person who served and for their family. A Trauma-Aware Approach™ invites us to look beneath behavior, honor strengths and lived experience, and address the Conditions That Shape Human Potential™ alongside the practical realities of transition.

Beyond the Uniform Is a Person

◆

Identity, relationships, strengths, and future possibilities matter alongside the service story. Beyond the Uniform™ is veteran-informed in its language and its listening: it makes no assumptions about combat, injury, disability, or clinical needs, and it does not promise therapy, benefits navigation, or emergency response. Every person who served — and every family beside them — is met as a whole person.

A Community Movement

◆

Beyond the Uniform™ creates opportunities for stories, mutual connection, veteran leadership, awareness and community partnerships — a movement first, growing at the pace of the community it serves.

Future Wellness and Purpose Pathways

◆

Coming Soon

Future pathways will explore trauma-aware reflection, transitions, family experiences, mentoring, leadership, employment and entrepreneurial opportunities. These are possibilities still taking shape — future-framed and opened only as they are ready, never promised before they exist.

Voices of HOPE™: Veteran Stories

◆

Veterans and military-connected loved ones are invited to share experiences in their own words and on their own terms — what to share, and whether to share at all, is always the storyteller's choice.

Two Connected Branches: The Envisioned Model

◆

The Movement

Make HOPE visible through stories, awareness, listening, meaningful partnerships, advocacy and community connection.

A Voices of HOPE™ veteran story series may feature self-directed stories from veterans and military families.

The Pathways

Explore possible education, wellness education, coaching, mentoring, leadership development, peer connection, and technical assistance for organizations that serve this community. All are planned possibilities, not published service commitments.

How Beyond the Uniform™ Connects — The Pathway to HOPE™

◆

Beyond the Uniform™ touches all four pathways. Each connection below names the AWARE departments that carry it — explore all five departments on the The AWARE Departments page.

CONNECT — Communities

Belonging, community relationships, and veteran stories — connection with people who understand service, and with the wider community beyond it.

Carried by AWARE: Ambassadors · Advocacy · Wellness

LEARN — Trainings

Trauma-Aware education, reflection, and skills for the transition into civilian life — for veterans, families, and the people who support them.

Carried by AWARE: Education · Redesigning Systems

GROW — Coaching

Mentoring, coaching, leadership, workforce and entrepreneurial possibilities — strength carried into a new mission.

Carried by AWARE: Ambassadors · Redesigning Systems · Education

HEAL — Wellness

Whole-person wellness reflection — identity, grief, stress, restoration, and relationships.

Carried by AWARE: Wellness · Advocacy

Wellness and the Conditions Around It

Transition is whole-person work. Beyond the Uniform™ connects to the 10 Dimensions of Alchemized Wellness™ — dimensions like emotional, social, environmental, financial, and occupational wellness often carry the weight of transition — and to the Conditions That Shape Human Potential™: housing, education, employment, transportation, and access to care shape what is possible. Wellness is never an individual responsibility alone; the conditions around a person matter.

A Sibling Initiative: Beyond the Bars™

Beyond the Uniform™ and Beyond the Bars™ stand side by side as equal initiatives — and some lives touch both: a veteran may also carry justice-system experience. Neither identity implies the other, and each person is met as a whole person, never reduced to a single chapter of their story.

Ways to Participate — Choose Your Own Path

◆

There are many ways to take part, and each one stands on its own. Become an Ambassador without ever sharing your story; share a story without joining a community; connect without committing to anything more. Choose the path that fits — or simply register interest and decide later.

Veteran Ambassadors

An Initiative of Alchemize HOPE · Remembrance, Visibility & Connection

Say Their Name™

Every name holds a story. Every person matters.

Whether someone has lost a loved one to suicide, overdose, or homicide, or is living with the uncertainty of a missing person, their loved one’s name, story, relationships, and humanity matter. Say Their Name™ is a developing Alchemize HOPE initiative making space for remembrance, visibility, connection, honest conversations, and pathways toward support—without shame, pressure, or judgment.

Say Their Name™ emblem — a white dove carrying a golden olive branch, rising over clouds within a gold and sapphire medallion

Say Their Name™

“Their life is more than what happened to them.”

Say Their Name™ centers loved ones affected by suicide, overdose, homicide, and missing-person cases. It welcomes family, friends, partners, peers, colleagues, and communities navigating grief, traumatic loss, or the ongoing uncertainty of someone missing.

At its heart are dignity, remembrance, visibility, connection, and compassionate support — and each person’s identity beyond the circumstances of a death or disappearance.

Coming Soon Say Their Name™ has no launch date yet — join the waitlist and we'll be in touch as it opens.

Status: Coming Soon. This page shares the mission and educational overview of a developing initiative. It is not an active support group, memorial database, registration, or event, and nothing here implies one has launched.

What It Is · Why It Exists · Who It's For

◆

What This Initiative Is

A remembrance, visibility and connection initiative honoring individuals and supporting the people who carry love, grief, unanswered questions or uncertainty.

Who This Is For

Families, friends and communities affected by death by suicide, overdose or homicide, and those experiencing the uncertainty and ambiguous loss of a missing loved one.

Purpose

To affirm that people are more than the circumstances of their death or disappearance and create dignified opportunities for remembrance, connection, advocacy and compassion.

Mission

To cultivate a nonjudgmental space for stories, remembrance, community awareness and person-driven support—without requiring families to disclose private experiences or assume a missing person has died.

Why This Matters

◆

Death and disappearance can leave love, grief, fear, uncertainty, unanswered questions, anger, and memories existing side by side. No two experiences are the same — and two of those experiences are different enough that Say Their Name™ keeps them on separate paths. Remembrance follows a confirmed passing. A missing person's family lives with something else: an ongoing uncertainty that is not a loss anyone can name for them. Both are honored here, each in its own language.

Their Life Is More Than How They Were Lost

◆

Every person honored here is remembered for a whole life — relationships, personality, meaningful moments, and stories — never defined by a cause or a circumstance. How someone was lost is one fact near the end of a story; it is never the story itself.

Begin Where You Are

◆

Four pathways of experience — suicide loss, overdose loss, homicide loss, and missing persons and ambiguous loss. Each deserves distinct, thoughtful language and support. These cards are simply ways into the page — nothing here asks you to share, disclose, or name anyone, and everything on this page can be read anonymously.

Remembrance

Remember someone lost to suicide

For families, friends, and loved ones grieving someone lost to suicide — and holding the whole of who they were.

Remembrance

Remember someone lost to overdose

For families, friends, and loved ones grieving someone lost to overdose — their life was bigger than the way they died.

Remembrance

Remember someone lost to homicide

For families, friends, and loved ones grieving a homicide — a life to be honored, never reduced to what happened.

Missing · Ongoing Uncertainty

Support someone who is missing

For those living with a missing loved one — searching, waiting, and keeping their story visible. This path is different, and it stays different.

Remembrance — After a Confirmed Passing

◆

“Their life was bigger than the way they died.”

This path is for loved ones grieving a confirmed passing — by suicide, overdose, or homicide. Remembrance here means honoring a whole life: who they were, how they laughed, what they loved, the place they hold in their family and community — without reducing them to how they died.

Grief after a death can hold love, fear, anger, unanswered questions, and memories all side by side, and no two experiences are the same. There is no timeline for it, and no expected shape.

When it is welcomed, a gentle question opens more than advice ever could: “Would you like to tell me about them?” Then listen — without demanding details. Honor the person, and respect the family's language, privacy, and wishes.

When Someone Is Missing — Living With Uncertainty

◆

“Their story matters. They have not been forgotten.”

This path is for families, friends, and loved ones of someone who is missing. Their experience is not bereavement after a confirmed passing — it is living, day after day, with uncertainty: searching, waiting, hoping, and keeping their story visible.

Say Their Name™ does not assume a death that has not been confirmed, and an open search is never treated as finished. Missing-person awareness is not memorialization, and the language here stays honest: missing, searching, uncertainty, keeping their story visible.

Visibility for a missing-person case happens only with verified family authorization. This site carries no case details, posters, tips, or appeals — reports and information about a case belong with local law enforcement and the appropriate official authorities.

Two Connected Branches — and a Story Series

◆

The Movement

Under Make HOPE Visible™, the movement branch grows remembrance and awareness campaigns, optional name-sharing and symbolic apparel, community connection, family-led advocacy, and stigma reduction — with optional storytelling for those who choose it.

Memorial events belong to confirmed passings. Visibility for missing-person cases happens only with verified family authorization — it is never memorialization by default.

The Pathways

Future structured pathways may include trauma-aware grief and ambiguous-loss education, peer connection, family and community support, coaching and learning resources, and carefully verified referral partners for bereavement and missing-person support. These are future possibilities, not current services.

Voices After Loss™

Voices After Loss™ is the story series of Voices of HOPE™ connected to this initiative: optional written, audio, or video stories from people grieving a confirmed passing.

Stories from missing-person families live under a clearly differentiated pathway — “Missing, Remembered, and Loved” — which never implies death. Every story requires permission and editorial safeguards.

Coming Soon

Honor and Remember — A Future Possibility

◆

Coming Soon

In time, Say Their Name™ hopes to offer opt-in story spotlights, remembrance activities, and memorial opportunities. They will exist only after moderation, family permissions, and clear procedures are in place — with explicit permission for every name, photo, and story. Until then, this is a future possibility, not a feature: there is no memorial wall and no public submission of any kind, and the only route is a general inquiry.

Explore & Participate

◆

How Say Their Name™ Connects — The Pathway to HOPE™

◆

Say Their Name™ touches all four pathways. Each connection links to the pathway's own page — nothing is duplicated here.

CONNECT — Communities

Belonging, companionship, community remembrance and safe missing-person visibility — family and peer connection for people carrying grief or uncertainty.

LEARN — Trainings

Grief and ambiguous-loss literacy, stigma awareness, listening, trauma-aware communication, and understanding context.

GROW — Coaching

Meaning-making where appropriate, family and community leadership, advocacy, support-building, and reflective practices.

HEAL — Wellness

Whole-person wellness, self-awareness, grief and ambiguous-loss support resources, and varied personal healing journeys.

The AWARE Intersections

◆

All five AWARE departments carry part of this initiative — explore them in full on the The AWARE Departments page.

Advocacy

Dignity, stigma reduction, survivor and family visibility, and appropriate missing-person advocacy.

Wellness

Grief, ambiguous loss, and the 10 Dimensions of Alchemized Wellness™.

Ambassadors

Trained community awareness, remembrance, and consent-based outreach.

Redesigning Systems

Person-driven, trauma-aware, culturally responsive pathways to support and information.

Education

Grief literacy, ambiguous-loss awareness, loss-aware language, and professional learning.

Wellness and the Conditions Around It

Grief and uncertainty are whole-person experiences. Say Their Name™ connects to the 10 Dimensions of Alchemized Wellness™ and to the Conditions That Shape Human Potential™ — conditions such as access to care, housing, relationships, and community support shape what a family is carrying and what support can reach them. Those conditions never explain any individual death or disappearance, and grief follows no predictable trajectory.

Support & Resources

◆

Three different kinds of support, kept distinct — because bereavement after a death, support after a violent death, and the search for someone missing are not the same experience.

Bereavement — After a Death

Grief support begins with being heard. If you or someone you love is in suicidal or emotional crisis in the U.S., call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline — free, confidential, and available any time.

For immediate danger, call 911.

Victim Support

Families affected by homicide carry both grief and a justice process. If you are in immediate danger, call 911.

You may also ask local law enforcement about the victim-support advocates serving your area, who can explain what support exists locally.

Missing-Person Support

To report a missing person, or to share information about a case, contact local law enforcement or the appropriate official authorities.

This website does not accept investigative tips or case information, and it cannot promise case assistance.

Your name, your choice. Nothing on this page asks you to share a name or a story. There is no memorial wall, no photo or story upload, and no enrollment here — and there will be no public submission of any kind without explicit, verified permission from the family. Private remembrance, private searching, and anonymity are fully respected: participation is always optional.

Ways to Participate — Choose Your Own Path

◆

Each option below stands on its own, and every one is optional. Registering interest never means sharing a name or a story, choosing one path never enrolls you in another, and nothing is ever published without explicit, verified permission.

Honor a Story

A future moderated remembrance feature. Until it is live, this opens a general inquiry only — no names or stories are collected for publication here.

Coming Soon

Your Story

Confidential interest inquiry for Voices After Loss™, the story series of Voices of HOPE™. You choose what to share and may decline any question — nothing is used or published without your explicit permission.

Coming Soon

Ambassadors

Coming Soon
